Collective Agreement

  • The purpose of the Collective Agreement is to maintain harmonious and mutually beneficial relationships between the Employer, the Union and the employees and to set forth certain terms and conditions of employment upon which agreement has been reached through collective bargaining.

  • Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC)

    Represents nearly 230,000 workers in every province and territory in Canada and in locations around the world. Our members work for federal government departments and agencies, Crown Corporations, universities, casinos, community services agencies, Aboriginal communities, airports, and the security sector among others. PSAC is headquartered in Ottawa with 23 regional offices across Canada.

  • PSAC Prairies - Southern Alberta

    The Public Service Alliance of Canada is divided into seven regions – Atlantic, Quebec, National Capital Region, Ontario, Prairies, British Columbia, and the North. Across the regions, staff provide expertise and support to Local officers and members.

    The PSAC Prairies - Southern Alberta region includes members in Calgary, Lethbridge and surrounding areas who serviced out of the Calgary Regional Office, responsible for more than 5,200 members.

  • Agriculture Union

    Our members can be found in communities from coast to coast. Every day, Canadians count on the dedication and professionalism of the men and women of the Agriculture Union. Many of our members are front-line defenders of public health, supporters of sustainable agriculture and guardians of a secure food chain. Others carry out key roles in upholding integrity in the federal public service and ensuring the public is able to receive services in both official languages.

  • Canadian Labour Congress (CLC)

    The Canadian Labour Congress is the largest labour organization in Canada, bringing together dozens of national and international unions, provincial and territorial federations of labour and community-based labour councils to represent more than 3 million workers across the country.

  • Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL)

    The Alberta Federation of Labour is a voluntary association of unions and employee organizations that have banded together to achieve common goals. Since 1912, the Federation has fought hard to improve conditions for working people, their families and their communities.

  • Lethbridge District Labour Council (LDLC)

    Chartered by the Canadian Labour of Congress and affiliated to the Alberta Federation of Labour, represents over 5000 unionized members throughout Southern Alberta. The LDLC’s purpose is to improve the communities in which the members live, work and play, by advancing the economic and social welfare of all workers.

Grievance Resources

  • The grievance is a means for the union to protect members’ rights under the collective agreement. Filing a grievance is a legal right when there has been a violation of a right in the collective agreement and/or a member has been disciplined or terminated.

    Members have the support of our union with a grievance (a written complaint against an action or lack of action, of an employer in matters relating to terms and conditions of employment).

    Adjudication, Mediation and Expedited Adjudication are three ways in which grievances, which have exhausted the internal departmental grievance procedure, may be resolved under the Public Service Labour Relations Act (PSLRA).
