Collective Bargaining
Collective bargaining is how PSAC and management come up with the terms and conditions of employment for our members. Provincial or federal labour legislation establishes rules for how negotiations take place and how disputes are handled.
Representation
Local 30048 connects with members in the workplace, providing support when members:
have a question or problem;
need first level representation when they have a grievance;
want information about their collective agreement and other matters.
Our stewards are responsible for monitoring what is going on in the workplace, helping to ensure members’ rights are being respected by the employer, health and safety issues are being addressed, and that human rights are protected. They bring problems to the attention of the employer and find solutions.
Advocacy
We build solidarity and bargaining strength by supporting each other in our struggles – that’s the power of unions historically and something we must capitalize on today as well.
There are many opportunities to get involved in union activities, including activities related to collective bargaining and campaigns on different issues.
